Biography
Dr. Anastasios Koulaouzidis is a Clinical Professor at the University of Southern Denmark, Odense, Syddanmark, specializing in capsule endoscopy, colonoscopy, deep enteroscopy, gastroenterology, and artificial intelligence. He obtained his MD from the Medical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, in 1995, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (2013), the European Board of Gastroenterology (2009), and the Royal Society for Public Health (2013). His research focuses on clinical applications of capsule endoscopy, artificial neural networks, quality improvement, software diagnostics, and specialty interests including anaemia, faecal calprotectin, and microscopic colitis. With over 104 indexed publications, his most-cited work is the "Small-bowel capsule endoscopy and device-assisted enteroscopy for diagnosis and treatment of small-bowel disorders: European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE) Guideline – Update 2022" (287 citations), and he serves on the editorial and advisory boards of several specialty journals, including as Editor-in-Chief of the Global Journal of Gastroenterology & Hepatology.
