Biography
Dr Derek Ball, BSc, PhD, is Head of Sport Science at the University of Aberdeen, United Kingdom. His research interests focus on adipose tissue function and metabolism, nutritional approaches to modulating muscle function, and the application of novel technologies to monitor cardiovascular function. He teaches courses in Applied Systems Physiology, Metabolism and Exercise, and Human Cardiovascular Function. Dr Ball has published extensively with over 50 papers in peer-reviewed journals, several book chapters, and more than 50 conference proceedings, including his highly cited work on the contrasting effects of heat stress on neuromuscular performance (2020).
