Signal Transduction Pathways

Signal transduction pathways are biological processes in which an extracellular signal is converted into a physiological response within the cell. These pathways allow cells to respond to changes in their environment and are essential for normal cellular communication and function. As such, they are involved in many essential processes such as development, metabolism, immunity and disease. Signal transduction pathways are also a common target for pharmacological interventions, as drugs that interfere with these pathways are often used to treat diseases such as cancer and diabetes. As a result, the study of signal transduction pathways is an important field in biomedical research.
