Nocturnal Epilepsy

Nocturnal epilepsy is a type of seizure disorder that is characterized by seizures that occur at night during sleep. Seizures can vary in severity, but typically involve abnormal movements and loss of consciousness. Nocturnal epilepsy can significantly affect the quality of sleep for those affected, and can lead to daytime sleepiness and fatigue. If left untreated, the disorder can cause long-term cognitive and psychological impairments. Treatment for nocturnal epilepsy can involve medications, lifestyle adjustments, and/or surgery. Treatment is typically tailored to the patient's individual needs. With prompt and appropriate treatment, nocturnal epilepsy can often be successfully managed.
