JAPST editors assess scope and readiness, select qualified reviewers, interpret evidence and recommendations, and protect the independence of each decision.

Accept only when subject expertise, time, confidentiality and conflict requirements can be met.
Disclose personal, professional, financial, institutional, collaborative, competitive and supervisory conflicts. Decline when impartial handling is not possible.
An editor does not handle the editor's own manuscript. Another qualified editor manages reviewer selection and the decision independently. Editorial service confers no advantage in review or acceptance.
External review begins only after the editor confirms scope, completeness and minimum ethical and reporting requirements.
Peer review: Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request.
Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.
When double-blind review is requested, editors must ensure that author-identifying information is not shared with reviewers.
Reviewer recommendations inform but do not replace the editor's independent assessment.
Assess methods, controls, analysis, reporting, limitations and pharmaceutical relevance.
Resolve conflicting or incomplete reviews and seek additional expertise when needed.
Separate essential scientific changes from optional suggestions and define a clear response.
State the rationale and ensure it follows journal policies and the evidence in the record.
Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal.
Editors should preserve evidence, avoid independent investigation beyond their role and escalate concerns confidentially.

Editors must not upload confidential manuscripts, figures, data or personal information to an AI service where confidentiality cannot be assured. AI cannot replace editorial judgment.
Guest editors work within the approved collection scope but follow the journal's normal review, conflict, recusal, integrity and final-decision safeguards.
Editorial appointments are vetted for current, on-scope expertise and do not arise from account registration alone.
The editorial office reviews a current CV or publication record, ORCID iD, affiliation and demonstrated expertise relevant to the journal's pharmaceutical science, technology and practice scope.
