Primate Genetics and Genomics

Primate genetics and genomics is the study of the genetic and genomic variation between different species of primates. This research field has been instrumental in understanding the evolution of primates and how changes in DNA sequences have shaped the adaptations and behaviours of primate species. Genomic studies have provided insight into the effects of selection, mutation and recombination on primate populations. Primate genetics and genomics can also be used to improve the health and welfare of primates, including the conservation of endangered species, through the study of genomic profiles and understanding of the underlying genetic processes. Additionally, it has been used to provide a better understanding of human biology and evolution, as well as to develop new models and treatments for diseases.
