01

Propose a Special Issue

Researchers with relevant expertise may submit a focused collection proposal to the editorial office for assessment.

Purpose

A proposal should define a coherent question within the approved Aims and Scope. Collections may concern drug discovery, pharmacology, natural products, pharmaceutical technologies, medicine safety or pharmacy practice.

Proposal route

Send the working title, rationale, topic boundaries, proposed article types, guest-editor details and a realistic schedule to the editorial office.

Collection release gate

A collection is opened only after its title, scope, status, schedule, named guest editor, affiliation, ORCID and issue-specific submission route have been confirmed.

02

Proposal requirements

The proposal must be specific enough for the journal to evaluate scholarly need, editorial capacity and conflict safeguards.

  • Working title and concise rationale
  • Scope with explicit inclusions and exclusions
  • How the topic fits pharmaceutical science, technology or practice
  • Proposed article types and reporting expectations
  • Guest-editor name, affiliation, ORCID and relevant publications
  • Potential contributor community without promised acceptances
  • Proposed schedule and any genuine submission deadline
  • Competing interests and relationships with proposed contributors
03

Editorial governance

A Special Issue uses the journal's normal screening, peer-review, conflict and research-integrity standards.

Editorial approval

JAPST confirms the collection's scope, editor and schedule before opening it.

Screening

Submissions are screened for scope, completeness, ethics and reporting requirements.

Independent review

Peer review is single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request. At least two independent subject-matter experts normally review manuscripts that proceed externally.

Decision

Guest editors advise within the approved remit. Final decisions remain under independent JAPST editorial oversight.

Conflicts and editor-authored work

Guest editors disclose conflicts and recuse themselves from their own submissions and other conflicted manuscripts. Another qualified editor handles those records independently.

04

Regular submissions and future collections

A manuscript does not require a Special Issue in order to be considered by JAPST.

Regular manuscripts

Regular submissions are accepted throughout the year and are assessed against the journal's Aims and Scope, author instructions and editorial policies.

Future active collections

When a collection opens, this page will state its verified title, scope, status, named guest editor, deadline where applicable and issue-specific submission route.

Develop a focused collection proposal

Send a concise proposal outline and guest-editor information to the editorial office.
